I qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in 1983 after studying at Manchester Royal Infirmary. I have worked at Hull Royal Infirmary and Goole and District Hospital, and when I left there in 1990 to set up my human and equine private practice, I was in charge of the outpatient department, specialising in musculoskeletal problems. I have ridden, hunted and been involved with horses for as long as I can remember, so, when the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy was founded in 1985 I became a founder member. I served on the committee and became involved in editing our first newsletters and organising conferences, this was long before any formal training had evolved with MRCVS. As I gained more experience working with vets and earning their trust my practice became very busy looking after horses with a wide range of problems from leg injuries to back problems to schooling problems.  Now 36 years in to my career I am still available to treat your horses back should you need me, I am not involved in rehabilitation anymore but I can refer you onto the necessary experts. However, we have holiday accommodation on the yard now and can accommodate you and your horse should you wish for a short break or a hunting holiday.
